I am setting up some guitars for my class at school for slide. I have been using open E and G tunings, but wanted to check out some tunings used for lap steel such as C6. Any other suggestions that would be an easy way for students to begin using the lap steel? What are the tunings for each string in C6?

E may also be a tuning to consider as it might help students who currently play regular Spanish guitar

do you have to use different string gauges for C6 tuning. I have a Regal Resonator that I would like to use the CEGACE ....just curious if this will put too much stress on the neck........thanks for anyhelp

Carroll, I am using that tuning on my Regal Reso. It works well for me. I am using a regular 6 string C6 set of strings.

You cannot use an ordinary set of guitar strings for C6. You can buy a set made for C6 or you can buy individual gages. Sets are available here on the forum.

Above Brad Bechtel has four or five c6 tunings. Also, pearse has just come out with a C6 set.
