Does anyone have any idea of the date of manufacture of a Gibson 6 steel guitar DGE2503? Both guitar and case are in immaculate condition - any idea of value? |

The "D" indicates a manufacture date of 1938. The "G" designates Gibson versus one of their house brands e.g. Kalamazoo, Recording King, etc. The "E" stands for electric. Gibson had 2 steel models available in 1938 - the EH-150 & EH-100. Without a pic the EH-150 has the Charlie Christian pickup. The EH-100 had a solid blade pickup in a white rectangular housing. Recent EH-150 sales on eBay have been in the $800-1100 range and the EH-100 $600-800. |

Mac, are you a native New Zealander? Did you ever live in the US? |

Hi! Tighe. You got a double dose - I replied and it never showed, so I sent it again. Not yet, the member is some 200 miles away but we will work on it. Thanks again.
Bo.
I am European N.Z. born and have only visited the US. |

Knowing Mac as I do, his Kiwi accent would betray him immediately should he state he lived in the U.S. Mac's a great guy and a real pleasure to know. Plays very nice steel guitar with the inspiration from his lovely wife Louisa who will enchant you with her dance. Both are wonderful people whom Mary and I have had the pleasure of knowing. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) |
