I downloaded the new 1.5 and lost most of my extensions. I really dislike the default font I have now. I have tried to download some new themes but I have just totally gone brain-dead. Where do you download the files to? I tried to put one in Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/extensions but it just lays there. When I click on it I am asked what program do I want to open it with. I also have lost my mouse gestures extension that I have become so totally used to using. Man, I hate tampering with stuff that I should have left alone.
Any help? |

OK--it's slowly coming back to me. It's all in the Tools/Options realm. The fonts, the allowing of extension downloads & installations. Looks like I'll work this one out. Gotta stop huffin' this paint thinner. |

Jon;
Be sure to post your findings about the changes to FF 1.5 from the previous versions. It will help the rest of the early adapters here.
I can tell you that most Extensions have to be rewritten to work in FF 1.5, which is up to the authors, not Mozilla. However, a few extensions can be manually edited to install and run in 1.5, if they are otherwise compatible, but not properly set to recognize this version of FF. This is way advanced stuff, but I have done it to allow the Google PageRank Statusbar extension to work on 1.5.

Well---I couldn't install ANY extensions. I got a message that I needed to change a setting to allow downloads and needed to "edit options" but when I went there the settings were correct. Also, with 5 windows open and 3 or 4 tabs per window, when I closed the options box with an "OK", I had to click it once for each and every tab that was open.
Anyway, I didn't want to but I went to the FF forum and I found my fix. I'm bored and don't feel like writing it out unless anyone asks, then I'll be happy to. It involved inputting "about:config" in the url box and toggling something to "true"---so far over my head it's not funny but it worked!! and now everythinhg is just fine, mouse gestures updated & all.
I did read about the extensions that apparently new or updated ones are going to come along slower with 1.5 because, apparently, of higher standards of testing, or something.
Anyway, there it is. |

Some of my extensions carried over to v1.5 on their own, but a few require an non-existant newer version. It looks like the they are still listed as installed extensions though, so hopefully 'check for extension updates' will one day make them work.
CookieCuller and downThemAll are two of my extensions that are not functional in v1.5. |
