Today at 4:57am (per the message date/time stamp) I received an email complimenting one of my demo tracks on my steel page. I was a short and nicely typed note:
Quote: |
Your song, ''I Want to know what love is'' ROCKS!! |
That made me feel quite good. Right after that message was another at 5:01am from the same sender that stated in huge letters,
Quote: |
you are a freak HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AH AH HA |
(misspellings included) with the rest of the message filled with hundreds of random characters.
I haven't given the sender's (apparent) email ID here because it seems incongruous that the same individual would send both of these notes. Might there be a virus on his machine that sent me the second note? Has anybody else seen anything like this? |

Bill;
The emails you describe fall under the catagory of harassment of an SGF member, and that makes it my business to investigate it (if you want me to).
Please forward both messages to me as attachments, or else view the source codes and copy and paste them into an email and send it to me. I will track down the sender for you and advise you about the intent of the sender. Please note that I require the full headers to trace the emails.

Very interesting. There are a few members here who are just able (barely) to maintain a veneer of being reaonable folks but who, it seems, are deep down either trash human beings, two-faced drunks, or mentally unstable (bipolar or downright demented--sorry to lump you-all together. There is nothing evil in mental illness).
It would be interesting to see them outed.
It would also be interesting to learn about a virus that could cause this (whether a computer worm or mad cow disease). |

Bobby,
Thanks for the offer to look into this for me. I think what I'll do is wait and see if I get any more harassing notes from this sender. If it's a one-off kind of thing, I'll just shrug it off as any other piece of junk mail I receive. If it continues, I'll let you know. Also let me know if any other SGF members receive this kind of message and I'll forward both notes to you for further action.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. |

I think anyone low and cowardly enough to send anonymous emails like that one deserve to be outed. |

It isn't clear that he is a Forum member. The email ID is a first and last name concatenated, but I searched for the name on the Forum and came up with nothing. Of course it's unlikely anybody who would send mail like that would use their real identity. The demo track of mine the sender initially complimented is actually a cover of a rock song by the band Foreigner, so the sender may have found the demo by web-searching for the band name or for rock music in general. So basically he could be anybody from anywhere, and may not even know he SGF exists. I only posted here because I wondered if anybody else had experienced something like this. |
