If you've ever sold anything on Ebay, you've probably received a "Question from Ebay Member" email.

I just received one that looks as genuine as the real thing. The message it contained probably varies. The one I got is:
quote:
Question from blueneptune1
Item: *New Sealed In Box BOSE Cinemate Home theatre speakers (5824849833)
This message was sent while the listing was active.

Why have you bidded on my product and do not respond to my messages. You are the winning bidder and if you will not respond to my message i will leave a negative feedback.
Michael

There is Ebay's usual RESPOND button, but clicking it would take the sucker to "realityebay.com/redirectionare/" which is no doubt a login page to harvest your password.

Don't click the "convenience links" in commercial emails.

I use SpoofStick for both IE and Firefox browsers. It is a plugin extension that identifies that actual website you are visiting and helps you detect if it isn't what you thought it was supposed to be. Spoofstick is available as a free download, from http://www.spoofstick.com/

But, if you right click on that email and then click properties does it show you the actual email address or the spoofed one?

I deleted it.

Remember that it's not an email link. It's a "button" that takes you to a web site for Ebay's internal email message system. Except that it's a spoofed copy of the Ebay site.
