Hi guys,

I have a compaq 2500 presario laptop about 1 1/2 years old with (2)256 RAM sticks in it. Would a 512 RAM stick work in it if I'd take on of the 256 sticks out? Would I have 768 RAM then total? I've been trying to find the specs on this laptop, but can't seem to find them.

Thanks,
Mark

did some digging - according to the compaq website your notebook will support 2 512 Mb memory sticks for a total of 1024 Mb. you could indeed have one 512 and one 256 in it.

I've found this web site to answer all my memory upgrade questions. http://www.crucial.com/

I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with them.

I will second Joey's recommendation of Crucial.com, I have dealt with them on several occasions and have nothing but good things to say about them.
