H guys, I'm gonna build our band's website. Any recommendations for inexpensive web hosts? Easy to use website building programs? Thanks in advance! JimP |

Try these guys: http://www.hostexcellence.com/instant_h.php
I spoke with a fellow named Patrick Temple there last night and he told me I could get the "Instant Excellence" program for 2 years with domain name registration and renewal for $118 That included waiving the $20 setup fee they normally charge. Sounded like a pretty good deal to me. |

Hi Jim. I currently use WebHostingBuzz.com for my personal site. They have pretty good plans even for as cheap as even $3 a month. I think they may include free domain name registration.
The Georgia Steel Guitar Website is hosted by Leading Edge Hosting.
I recommend dropping by http://www.webhostingtalk.com and looking through their boards to see what companies are mentioned, and also particularly to peruse the "Shared and Reseller Hosting offers".
Pick out a few companies and email their support to let them know you're a possible customer. You want to find out how quickly they'll respond--the faster, the better. There are a lot of companies out there--don't settle for one with less than excellent response times and customer service. It's a buyer's market.
I have domain names registered through both Dotster and GoDaddy. I like them both. I've never heard a negative comment about either.
For software, Dreamweaver is probably the most common WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) webpage creation software. I can't recommend it or speak against it as I write webpages directly in XHTML and CSS. I'm aware it is not inexpensive, though. For someone who doesn't have the time to learn XHTML and CSS, though, and who wants a professional looking website, it will get you there better than anything else I know of.
Good luck. The WWW is a wooly place.[This message was edited by Chris Lasher on 10 February 2005 at 09:01 PM.] |

I pay $2 a month for this site. For $0 a month I can have the same except the provider would run pop-ups and a banner.
http://tabletennis.8k.com/ is the address for my site.
I'm sure there are some other low cost providers. I gut feeling is for most people there are many choices for under $10 a month.
Also I would recommend not using web building programs provided by the site. It is really not that hard to get a beginning guide to HTML and learn do it yourself.
