I just re-arranged my desk area, and brought my computer out from underneath the desk, and put it on a bookshelf. Right next to it, is a plastic case containing my cassette tapes.
I remember years ago hearing something about not placing cassettes near speakers,TVs, monitors, etc, because the magnetic field could re-arrange the iron-oxide particles, and thusly, ruining the music.
So is it okay to keep my Computer Tower next to my cassette tapes, or should I move the tapes?
Thanks! |

Move the tapes. I had a box full of training cassettes in a storage next to an active extension cord for about a year, and all of the 10 tapes in the box developed a weird drop-out that coincided with the end of the cassette closest to the extension cord. |
