Try opening up Outlook Express click on tools then options and when the option page opens ,click on spelling then check both boxes that appear under SETTINGS and the last two boxes that appear under " WHEN CHECKING SPELLING" .

I run win.98 OS . I hope this will get you what you want. The settings will check for spelling on outgoing messages and will also provide alternate correct spelling for incorrect spelling of words within the message .

I may be wrong but I think you only have the spell check option if you've installed something like Microsoft Office - which has spell-checking. Outlook Express uses the Office spell-checkiing (I think).

Look into OpenOffice too. www.openoffice.org
