Has anyone ever played one of these things?

They show up regularly on eBay, and they always sell for about $300 ...

I've always imagined that the tone would be pretty strange -- perhaps like a plywood box with a pot lid for a resonator?

However, if they sound better than Superior/K&S Hawaiian guitars -- like mine -- please don't respond. I don't want to know.

These are usually short scale and I'm certin that the 'resonator' does nothing to improve the tone or volume. In fact since it blocks the soundhole it probably cuts down on volume.
As a collectable they are interesting but I'm sure your K&S is a 'Superior' instrument.

Radiotone Hawaiian guitars typically have no volume to speak of, plywood bodies, and Allen-style tuning keys (you need an Allen wrench to tune the strings).Every single one of these guitars I've seen has been in extremely poor condition. The guitar offered in this auction has been the best looking one so far.
The K&S Weissenborn style guitar is far superior to this instrument in every way.

The guitar has a round disk that is very much like a jar lid.I once owned one of these. They do sound sweet but on the lower end on volume.Mine was solid something not plywood. It was a project guitar that was fun .It reminds me of a kids guitar.
