hello, my name is orville johnson and i've enjoyed visiting the forum for some time and finally signed up. i play dobro, non-pedal steel, bottleneck slide as well as guitar, mandolin, banjo, and do a lot of singing too. i teach at guitar/music camps including International Guitar Seminars and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. i've got several cds out, one of which is devoted to my dobro playing. it's called Slide & Joy and b0b will soon have it available here. i have a video for beginning bottleneck style slide and one devoted to playing and arranging in open D tuning. you can also visit my website at www.mongrelfolk.com. but enough about me, i look forward to chatting with y'all soon.

Orville --

Welcome ... as (bad) luck would have it, I was in St. Louis while you were 'cross town at the Tractor Tavern.

I'll be back that way soon, and hope to get out to hear you play before too long. Please keep us posted on when/where you can be found.

Orville is one of the most interesting resonator guitarists out there currently. I enjoy and recommend "Slide and Joy" as a fine example of contemporary reso playing.

Welcome aboard, Orville!

Hey Orville! Good to see you here! Sorry
I missed you at the Tractor. Teach me to check in here more often.
Thanks for cutting "Slide and Joy." Great!
I've really enjoyed your playing at Wintergrass every year.
It was good learning for me the year you
were at Mike Auldridge's workshop and you two
discussed your ways of playing.
