I am having problems connecting and staying on the internet. Sometimes I can get on and sometimes I may be on for 5 minutes and lose the connection. I have tried 3 or 4 different virus discs and nothing has worked. I am trying to download from Microsoft but I keep losing the connection. Just wondering if any of you have encountered the same problem and if so how you fixed it....Paul King |

Paul, I eliminated that problem by cancelling my telephone connection and contracting for cable! If you don't have that option, I don't know what the solution could be. |

Most likely the problem is noise on the phone line.
If you can't take the option that Gene suggested, then you might talk with the phone company about a line filter or better yet, DSL.

Try a different modem.
Long ago I had the same problem with a USR Sportster. I called USR Tech support, they sent me a new chip, and the problem was resolved.
I now, thankfully, have a DSL connection. |
