I just bought a new computer with Windows XP Home Version OS. Windows Explorer keeps shuting my computer down. How can I stop this from happening?

Roger,

You have the "Blaster" virus. You will need to download the "Patch" to fix this from the Microsoft website. The link to information on the Blaster Virus is here.

Do you have a antivirus product running? You can read another forum thread regarding this here... http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum12/HTML/001488.html

Let me know if you need help with this.

Thanks!
Mark

One of our computers at work was using up all it's resources, the hard drive kept running pretty much continuously, and it was mostly unresponsive. I went to this site http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and ran the free test, and it found and cleaned the virus. Now everything's working as it should. You might want to give it a try, in addition to what Mark suggested.

IMHO, MSIE is the ANTHRAX of the computer world, "applies a big vacuum", and would qualify as a joke (if not so obviously pathetic).
OK...want to know how I REALLY feel about MS Internet Exploder...? :>)

Hi Mark,

I took the computer back to the place where I bought it and they put the patch on and took care of the problem.
