What does "Wavout format not supported" mean.I was cleaning clutter from the computer and lost my sound. If I turn my volume up, I can hear the speakers. But, I can't play any music. Any help appreciated!

Jim-- it would be helpfull if you described what operating system/Windows version and applications and soundcard you're using.

Perhaps you have the "mixer" software (included with your computer or soundcard) configured improperly. Maybe it is set to select the wav OUTPUT as the source for whatever application you're using for playback. That is a feature some soundcards provide which allows you to (sort of) feed the mixed output signal back in as a "source".

Or, maybe, you've disabled something or simply have a loose connection.

It's windows 98, don't know about the sound card. I'll take it to the local guru tomorrow! Thank you!
