When I try to run Scan Disk, it starts and restarts 10 times before quitting. It never finishes the scan and repair process.
Is there another problem that needs to be resolved?

You must either stop as many running programs as possible or reboot into safe mode. |

Be sure to disable your screen saver. Right-click on any blank place on your desktop, select properties, select screen saver and either disable or select a couple of hundred minutes. There may be other issues as well but my experience is that this is a necessary step. |

Also consider temporarily stopping your anti-virus program -either Norton or McAfee .Don't forget to restart it after your scan disk runs .

If you have a Broadband connection (Road Runner or DSL), you should temporarily shut down your connection while you're doing your computer maintenance. This used to drive me nuts until I figured out what was happening.
