I have Norton firewall and antivirus, and I'll bet a day doesn't go by that I don't get alerted to at least 4 or 5 trojan horse attempts. I don't recall this in the past, but i didn't have such elaborate software or a 24 hour conection either. Is this normal, or is there something on my computer attracting these assaults?

The way to check out if these are real or not is,go to the one (or both) of the following sites: www.truthorfiction.com
or www.snopes.com
You'll find that out, plus a whole lotta other info. These sites will save a lotta embarassment on your part, sometimes. Besides, they make for some VERY interesting reading!

JB, I have the same software that you have and I have the same problem. However, I think the software hits on somethings that it calls a "trojan horse" that really isn't. The reason I say this is because I have my computer in my studio networked with a computer upstairs in my bedroom and routinely I get that message that my computer has been attacked and the software blocked it. When I check to see where it originates, It says it's coming from the other computer on my network. There are only 2 computers on my network be the way.

These attacks are no joke. I had the firewall turned off by accident a week ago, and sudenly my computer slowed down and I noticed the antivrus was off. while the firewall was down-about 5 minutes-someone had loaded a trojan horse on my computer that immediately started making copies of everything I did and trnsmitting it off to someone somewhere. it also launched a KILLAV bug that shut down my norton software. took me a couple hours to clean it up, and you have to watch carefully in case a sleeper has been loaded in there. So these aren't hoaxes or misreads-it's a serious attack.
You can set the sofware to allow your other networked computer to access the other one.

Where do you guys spend your time on the internet? I have had Norton Internet Security operating on my computer for over a year(not in right now) and I get those Trojan Back door 7 things too. But they are just scripts from web sites trying to get your computer info. I have never had a computer attack from a web site or email. What are you guys doing? |

Man, I've had that klez thing show up about 4 times today. And trust me, that trojan horse that got dropped on my computer as no laughing matter. Took a lot of work to clean, and Norton said they are REAL prevalent right now.
