I have had a Fender Deluxe 6 since 1972 and over the years I messed with the wiring of the pickups, disconnecting the blend pot. I´d like to restore it to the original wiring, including the blend pot. Can anybody help me with a wiring diagram?
Much obliged,
Rainer

Hi Rainer.
The following:

is a schemo for a multi-neck guitar. I would think that you could extract what info you need for your single neck.
If I'm wrong I suspect we'll hear about it real soon.
Hope it helps.
btw-----if all else fails, get three more deluxes, nail them all together (with the finest luthier box nails) and then wire according to the schematic. One has to think creatively.

Thanks, Jon. The quad neck Fenders seem to have a balance pot that both PUs are connected to. On the Deluxe 6 single neck (and on the Deluxe there is a "blend" pot that dials in only the neck PU. The bridge PU is ON at all times.
Here is what I did:
Bridge PU: white wire to center of volume pot, black wire to housing of blend pot. One outer contact of blend pot soldered to housing (ground).
Neck PU: white wire connected to outer contact of volume pot, then to output jack (the other outer contact is soldered to the pot´s housing/ground). Black wire to middle contact of blend pot.
When the blend pot is all the way CCW, both PUs are ON; rotate the blend CW and the neck PU fades out, leaving only the bridge PU ON. That seems to be backwards! Where did I go wrong?
I´m obviously "electronically challenged", so keep your answers simple, folks.
I need all the help I can get ...

Rainer, from looking at the wiring diagram mentioned above, I gather the following:
Both pickups are joined in the middle (I presume black and white wires are joined together, leaving another white and black wire free at the opposite ends of both pups.) One of these free wires is connected to ground (the housings of the pots and the outside of the output jack). The other free wire is "hot".
So, you have a ground connection, a hot conection, and a middle joined wire.
Each pot has three lugs: one in the middle, and one at either side of this middle lug.
Look at all 3 pots and you may see that one side lug is connected to the housing of each pot.
That means each pot has one end connected to ground. So all housings must be connected to one lug on each pot, as well as connected to the outside (ring) of the output jack. In addition, one free end of the pups (not hot) must be connected to ground. That takes care of all gound connections.
Next, the pup wire that is joining both pups must go to the center lug of the blend control. The other lug of the blend control is not connected. Done.
The hot pup wire must connect to one side of the capacitor. The other side of this cap must connect to the center lug of the tone control. The other lug is ground as discussed. The remaining free lug on the tone control must not be connected.
Last connection: The hot wire that is connected to the one end of the cap must also go to the end lug (not center)
of the volume control. The opposite lug is ground. The center lug goes to the tip of the output jack.
Blend and volume control is 250k. Tone control is 1 M.
Hope this is clear.
Peter
