In a thread in Buy & Sell, several folks comment that Microsoft Outlook Express is a "timebomb" that can destroy years of work among a few other comments of warning. Yikes! Why? |

I have never heard of this...What do you mean by "Time Bomb"? If you mean that viruses are written towards Outlook/Outlook Express than yes you are correct. But I see no problem with having Outlook/Outlook Express as your email client if you are a aware computer user and have a up-to-date Virus scanner on your PC.

Mark ,
Since you mentioned virus --I have had a multitude of the same two appearing in my Outlook Express every two or three days .They contain no attachment /s and it always is the same two . ( W32.sobig.A@mm and the other one that comes in at the same time each time, is W32.Sobig.A@mm.enc) My Norton anti Virus program 2002 version always catches them and quarentnes's them and I delete from there .
I was wondering if others are having an increase in virus attacts or is it just me ?
They seem to have increased a bunch around the time the war started . I hope my computer is not holding on to these particular two but I scan each time and my system is clear of any infection .
Your comments and others too, would be interesting to hear .

I haven't seen an increase since the war started, the problem was actually worse before. |

I haven't seen an increase. I still average 5 a day. I'm well protected. |

John,
Yeah, that virus is still floating around out there...heck I STILL get the Klez virus about once a week...COME ON PEOPLE...Klez is an old virus! We need to lock down our systems and get rid of this stuff. John, you are going about things the right way...always having your AntiVirus scan emails first before delivering to the inbox and also updating the virus files on a regular basis. I think Norton 2002 automatically updates itself so you have nothing to worry about.
I have heard some rumors of people trying to deploy virus files to emails regarding war relief efforts. That stuff makes me sick.
Keep doing what you are doing John.
