My son's computer crashed recently and we had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall all his software. Unfortunately, we don't have the software for his DVD drive and right now it's only playing CD's on the drive, but the Windows Explorer does show that there's a DVD in the drive, if we put one in. There's just no software interface to actually play the DVD.
Is there something (perhaps freeware or shareware?) that I can download for him?
Thanks,
Jim |

Thanks, Mark. I might do that if I can't find one that's free. This one you can "download" for free, but it has a playback limit (probably can't watch a whole movie) unless you cough up the $39.95 registration fee. Know any "really" free ones? |

Jimbo, you don't say what kind of computer your son has. Have you tried going back to the manufacturer of either the computer or the DVD drive? If the software came with the computer originally, you might even have the software on your restore CD, unless you lost it. The manufacturer might even be able to help you with that. |
