Hello -- I've been wondering about the Sierra Lap 8-string. I'm wondering how different (if at all) the string spacing is from a Stringmaster? I'm so used to the SM's that I'm not sure how well I'd adapt (if it's much different). Those guitars look pretty nice!

Thanks!

I drew some pickup designs up for them and at the pickup the pole spacing on the Sierras are .4375 pole to pole
Stringmasters are .3794 pole to pole.
You can get used to the wider string spacing quite easily but once you do it gets harder to go back to the Fender 8 spacing

I play both a Sierra Laptop and a Fender Stringmaster. The wide spacing does take a few minutes to get used to, especially on bar nose slants (where the nose plays two notes at the same fret, and the slant picks up a note at a lower fret). I finally realized that my 7/8" bar wasn't cutting it on the Sierra, and switched to a 1" bar. Now the bar nose slants are in tune. I still use the 7/8" bar on the Stringmaster.

The wide spacing of the Sierra really helps the intonation of bar slants (for me, anyway).
