Hey all,

I have a Fender Deluxe that is starting to give me some issues, and I'm hoping you all might know how to fix it.

When I play, I am getting a "crackling" noise. If I touch my finger to the tone or volume knobs, the crackling goes away.

I don't get this crackling when I turn the volume or tone knobs, so I don't think it's one of the pots. It comes and goes as well and sometimes if I rattle the input jack with the instrument cord, it goes away.

I am guessing that this is some sort of grounding issue? I've taken the knobs out and checked all the wires, and they all seem soldered well, but I could be missing something.

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards
Jason Kardong

Use a meter to continuity check all of your grounds. Check output jack, maybe change it. Use a new good quality patch cable to amp. Cable failure is most common.
