...and here it is.....

I just received Andy Iona - vol 3 (" Hula Girl") ... another of the fine restorations by Bruce Clarke. This one is just as "OUTSTANDING" as all his other restorations (I think the quality is just alittle better on these A. Iona's ... I think he is Clarke's favorite ????)

... PLUS a photo ..."Suitable for Framing"....of the "Who's Who" crowd : Jimmy Tai, Eddie Bush, George Piltz, Harry Beatty, Sam Koki, Andy Iona, Bobby Nichols, Bobby Mathews, Lani McIntire and Tommy Ainahau ....

From the liner notes .....
quote:

A stunning collection drawn from "The Islanders" wonderful radio transcriptions. Only one of this set, "How D'Ya Do", was actually recorded for commercial release, the other 17 were made exclusively for radio airplay".

Songs are:

Hula Girl
Kaleponi
Summertime Girl
Kalima Waltz
Tomi Tomi
Sweet Lei Lehua
Lei Ohu
Uhe Uhene
Homesick for the Islands
Maui Girl (Version 3)
Alekoki
Tahuwahuwai (version 3)
This Ginger Lei
Maka Moi
How D'Ya Do
Haleiwa
Pua Mamane
Indebted to You (version 2)

Also in the package from "Down Under" was a set of Music written by Andy Iona and Louis Herscher. These "jewels", which were arranged by A. Iona, have the melody written in standard notation, chords, lyrics and TAB (most is in E7... some in A ...a couple C#m7). What a TREAT and quite a surprise. The copyright for most is 1944.

Songs are:

Nani Loa
Shine on Tahitian Moon
My Guarden in Kalua
Fascinating Hula Rhythm
Stars over Dreamy Hamakua
My Rose of Waikiki
Starlight Dream
Sweetheart of the Rainbow Islands
Blue Waters of Puna
Rose Dust
Moon Dream Lane
Tropical Night
Hawaii Yours and Mine
Tropic Memories
Aloha Oe (Queen Liliuokalani...arrang. by Andy Iona ... )
Down Moana Loa Way
Hula Wiggle
Sweet Hawaiian Waltz
Blue Blue Islands
South Sea Heaven
Balinese Love Song

I believe these are for sale along with all those great CD's.

Bruce Clarke is a "ONE MAN HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY" ... truly a "non-profit" enterprise ... I think he told me it takes him about 6 months for EACH CD restoration ... and he's sold maybe 50 CD's total

I guess I know what I'll be doin' for the next year or so ... see ya.
