What is the best way to play through 2 amps without getting a lot of hum ? My gearis: Steel guitar w/ GL/10-1pu, PV NV400, Fender SK, Hilton vol w/2 outputs, BOSS DD-3 which has 2 outputs (straight and delay). I've tried several of the hook-up combinations that are possible with this gear but I always get a lot of hum, especially from the NV-400. Using any of this gear and only one amp (either amp) produces no hum and completely normal operation.

Use a Hum-X by Ebtech. Musicians Friend has them. Problem will be solved. Use on just one of the amp's ac cord.
