I would like to know if anyone is using the new ValveKing amps for Pedal Steel. I currently have a Nashville 1000, and am looking to move up a better amp. Bobbe Seymour has an advertisement video on his website, and the amp seems to have an interesting sound. Is anyone using them is the question, and are you happy with the sound/power..etc. Or if you have any specific recommendations I would appreciate any help. I'm also trying to find a website for the Webb Amps...I heard them in St. Louis at the Convention, but can't seem to find any info on pricing etc... Thank you.

You want a better amp than a NV1000? Other than a vintage Fender Dual Showman with JBL's doubt you're gonna find it. Webb is in transition - being taken over by our old friend up in central california - Tom Bradshaw. You can talk to him through this forum I think. Other than obvious strengths - weight (or lack thereof), sturdiness, power, and clarity, the SOUND is what sells amps and makes them desirable - or not. I've probably owned 2 dozen or more in my life. The only one I really DIDN'T like was a Standell - and that's a very sought-after "classic". I'm happy with my current rig - Session 500 and second channel (when I go stereo) with a 1501 BW and a CS800 amp. 'Course, the weight IS a pain, and I wouldn't be so happy if I was hauling that stuff around for one-nighters. (Been there, done that - never again.) |

Gil,
Thanks for the info, I appreciate your obvious experience...that's the best teacher ya know...Just for clarification, the only thing I don't like about my NV1000 is the pre/post amp noise when you turn it up. I'm using a Lexicon MPX100 for reverb to minimize the hum from the Peavey reverb tank.

The Lexicon may be causing your problem. Check the "noise" without the Lexicon connected to the amp.
Use the Post EQ loop for the Lexicon and it will work better. The Lexicon needs a "line level" signal. If you use it with "instrument level" it will tend to be noisy (actually any Line level device will be noisy at instrument level). |

Curt,
Get yourself a Nashville 112,and try your DD5,and RV-3 in that connection order, and turn the amp reverb all the way off. You may just like what you hear.
Then you'll want to get a second Nashville 112,and run stereo. Then you'll become spoiled. |

I never liked the tone of the 1000. The older Peavey amps are by-far the best for tone. Find you a Vegas or the old Session 400 or the Session 500. The Evans SE's are
my pick if I could have just one amp.
