I'm at least going to give it a spin for a month.
I've liked the Podxt since I got it a couple or more years ago, but I've noticed a few things I might like the Live for.
One is the knobs on the xt seem to accumulate "club bunnies" and all of a sudden your presets are overridden by the knob position. Especially the reverb.
Another is that it's a PITA unless you're going to mount a "control panel" on your leg to choose between banks. ESPECIALLY in bright light, where the display dissappears.
On the Nomenclature or ads anyhow they say there are more effects and other models.
Playing guitar more, I can see mounting it to the right of the steel, (or right I guess), standing up and being able to control the compression with the "pedal", as well as overdrive by placing the xt VP after the compressor and the overdrive. A drawback of the plain xt.
We'll see how other things look when I get one home here in a few.

I think it would be great. As far as I can tell, you could plug in your steel volume pedal as an expression pedal and thus put it where you wanted in the signal chain. I think I'm going to order one and give it a try also.

I don't believe you can use a pot or regular pedal for an "expression pedal". There's a line 6 pedal they have, but I don't think it's a standard VP. There's only one 1/4" input. I'm going to use my Hilton as usual and have my xtLive off to the left where I can use it for guitar, and I'll change the channels etc with my left foot, using the Live VP same as the "Output" on the Podxt.
I've been busy after getting home late from an out of towner this weekend, but so far, I'm finding it far above the Podxt for ease of use, less messing around finding channels, and lots more added things.
Far as I can tell the Outputs aren't RTS like the Podxt, but I never use it Lowz anyhow.
More as I get into it.

Well. I've been playing it at gigs for a month now and I like it a LOT.
Mostly because of the guitar board that I use it for, and the Pedal Steel use isn't any more difficult than the Podxt to reach and fiddle with. In fact, it's easier to switch banks. More "step and "beer" proof. Actually built to be stepped on..
Off to the right of the Hilton, at an angle to the steel, I can use my right foot to change things, and stand up and use it for Tele.
A couple things.
The "reverb" is not adjustable "on the fly" with a knob, like the xt, and if you want a different reverb level within a song or set, you have to have a separate channel for it, OR hit the Delay pedal twice, and edit the levels. A little more work, but like I said, pretty easily dealt with.
A question I have not dug for an answer to is whether the output 1/4" jacks are TRS balanced like the Podxt outputs ARE.
Now, all that said, a word of caution:
When turning it OFF, So NOT cut the power to it. Use the On Off Switch.
It will change the reverb type, and more importantly it will Change the Volume Pedal Cutoff level so that it doesn't cut off the volume. I thought something was amiss with the pot, and tried everything.
Then-
I found instructions on recalibrating the PodXT Live volume pedal. Copy/paste for any other people with the same problem:
I've got it memorized, and recal it regularly to keep up on it.
quote: To start with, have the unit switched off:
1) Hold down bank up button then swith on unit at same time.
your display will have changed at this point to a diferent menu.
2)You can now let go of the bank up button, now press
the AMP button.
3)push you expression pedal up from heel postion to toe position
and click until WAH light in ON.
4)Now push back the expression pedal to heel postion and you
will notice that on the menu on your display the mapped reading
will drop to zero or there abouts.
5) Now push the expression pedal up to the toe postion but DON`T
click the WAH swith. Now leave it there for 10 Secs for the
memory to remember it.
6) Now switch the unit OFF.
That should do it!!!
Anyhow, that's only if the power gets cut to turn your rig off. Like I said: USE THE SWITCH.
More later I guess, but l said I like it, and use it on every gig, every weekend.
ALso it is MUCH more friendly for recording through the USB. Levels are adjustable over the Podxt.
Gotta run.
