Has anyone had the chance to play through one of these?
600 Watts!
I am very often at a loss for "Clean Power"!
I would like to try one to see how adjustable they are.

For the money their asking for this amp, you could use a regular Loud Box, and mic it thru it's own PA system !!!
The List price on it is $2499..... I can put together a PA that would do a lot more than a Loud Box Pro even with the discounted price being $1799 .....OUCH ! |

But, what I would need this for is when there is not a PA system!
It happens way too often!

Again...
Has anyone had the opportunity to play through a Fishman LoudBox (250 Watt) or LoudBox Pro (600 Watt)?
I am always at a loss for power competing with a STD guitar player in an un-PA-re-enforced performance situation.
Would this be a good way to go?

I just played a gig Friday night on a Fishman Loudbox I just purchased and I really like this amplifier! This is the original Loudbox "tri-amped" 250 watt unit which I believe Fishman is replacing in its acoustic amplifier line.
I got mine for $395 and I think it may be the best deal in existence in amplifier pounds per dollar: the thing weighs 55 lbs.!!! That's the only negative I can see with it: its pretty heavy but at least it is small. You'll want a dolly if you own this amp.
The "tri-amp" design uses 3 individual power amplifiers, one each for the low, mid, and high frequencies. The low range is 160 W, mid is 60 W, and high is 30W. They add these and advertise this as "250 W". You can decide for yourself what it means, but it is, in deed, loud.
The amp is single channel and has a balanced DI output which is great for me as the sound guy where I usually play has never gotten the steel sound right until now.
Fishman makes good quality stuff. The grill, for example, is made of perforated sheet metal (no rotten grill cloth, ever). And the unit has a built in tilt stand arm for 45, 57, or 70 degrees of tilt.
Lastly, the Loudbox sounds fantastic. If you can pick one up for a good price, do it. I also play dobro and it'll be great for that, too, as the Loudbox has a built-in feedback eliminator. Reverb, too.

Somehow, I doubt it. The 600 watt thing may read "impressive" to you, but I get the feeling that with only one 12" speaker and one 6" speaker, you ain't exactly gonna be shakin' the stage off it's supports!
What you need, Dan, is a good amount of power fed into a big enclosure. I'd recommend finding something with two husky 15" speakers, four good 12" speakers, or something with six or eight 10" speakers, then push it with a good 200-300 watts. To do what you want, you need big-time radiating area, and any of these combinations will do it in spades!
You'll send the lead man off the stage muttering to himself...something about buying double Marshall stacks.  |

I placed a Fishman-Loudbox next to my std rig . . .
A Harkte KickBack 10 . . .
And the Fishman got nowhere close to the
db output of the 120 watt Hartke rig!
Fishman uses Good frequency-response delivery components . . .
But they have a horrible SPL level spec'!
The Side-By-Side comparison was abysmal!
360 watts into an abyss!

| Consider this, the Walker Stereo Steel package. I play with (2) loud guitarist. I usually place my (2) 15" enclosures in front of my and point them towards me.(I put the Fender kickback arms on them to get the angle of projection.)The sound engineers like this because I never pose a problem to their house mix. BUT, if the guitar guys start getting out of hand I set the enclosures behind me and start turning up----they ask for mercy everytime, along with the sound engineer.(ha) Good Luck |
