I just received a back order notice of a 30 day delay. Probably around second week of July, before they are shipped from Musician's Friend.
Thanx,
Jim |

I see the June shipments have all been moved out to July. I posted on the Peterson forum about the availability of the StroboFlip user manual and it's not out yet. I rarely buy a new model unit without reading the manual first. Gonna be a lot of VS-II's for sale if this thing is as good as the features listed on their site.

Bob,
Do you mean MSC that is now JSC? If so, where did you work?
Maybe we have something to talk about those days via e-mail.
Thanx,
Jim |

Yeah Jim, I did mean JSC. Check your e-mail. Thanks for asking.
Greg, thanks for the comment. I'm anxious to hear from you and anybody who gloms onto a StroboFlip. |

Looks like this is turning out to be "vaporware". |

I always wanted a stealth tuner (vaporflip), but how do I know if it is working?

If you don't see it, it's working. |

I now own a Strobo Flip. Just back back from Summer NAMM in Austin where I had the use of one in the Beard Guitar booth. I bought and have it home with me. John at Peterson told me they are shipping product.
It worked great at the show using the guitar and Dobro(tm) presets. Haven't tried it on psg yet.
It's not vaporware.....
It is evil though
btw, I noticed and appreciate the 3 pronged wall wart with a filter of some type in line.

A slight slip in availability is hardly vaporware. 1 to 2 years or more would be. We're only talking about a month or two. I believe Peterson's production is overseas and they are shipped by ocean freight. This sometimes takes longer than planned.
These guys make a good product and steelers are a small (but important) segment of their customer base. I find it disappointing that some of us are taking them to task over a small delay in availability.[This message was edited by John Fabian on 17 July 2006 at 01:48 PM.] |

John, you are entitled to your opinion. That they missed their ship date by a few months is really no big deal. That they have yet to even post a user manual for a product that is already in the hands of at least one poster is poor marketing. How much effort can it take to post a .pdf file of the manual? That they haven't responded with a firm availability date now that they have already produced a few seems incredible. They did advertise a date, got us all excited, then completely dropped the ball on communications. A number of people have already sold their old Peterson tuner expecting the new one to arrive. It's no big deal that many of us are disappointed in all this. That's simply how we feel.
I am sure that when the "VaporTuner" does arrive many of us will buy one and have a good laugh over all this. Certainly Peterson is a great manufacturer and they will come out fine in the end but they deserve a little heat for the situation as it sits right now.

Peterson are hurting their own business here. I know of a few people recently that did not buy the VS-II or the V-Sam because they were advised to wait for the Stroboflip. They were willing to buy the predecessors but were informed that a newer, better model was on the verge of being introduced. They were anxious for the Peterson technology but were put on hold. By now they've probably moved on altogether, or lost interest somewhat. Timing is important when you're dealing in sales. What a guy wants badly one week can drastically change the next.
Having said that, I love my V-Sam and wish the company luck with the new Stroboflip. |

I would be more than happy to wait, considering it is less than half the size of the VS-II, has more features and also includes an attachment for the leg of the steel. The Korg rack tuner and the old TU-12 have managed to keep me going for the past 25 years or so, so I'm sure a few more weeks waiting won't kill me.

Stroboflip manual in pdf on Peterson site as of today. It looks like it is worth the wait. |

May I be the first to notice what looks like a beautiful old Wright Custom on their announcement.
It's also nice to notice that there is actually a "Straight Up" selection on it.
Imagine that.
Probably for idiots like me..

Picked up mine today from Guitar Center in Dallas. The clamp is not large enough to fit on most steel guitar legs. Peterson Tuners is aware of this and has some new larger clamps on order. Just call Sue at (708)388-3311, give her your name and address, and she will send out the new clamp free of charge when they arrive. She said I was the first one to call, since they just started shipping the StroboFlip this week. |

That's interesting, Gary---the Guitar Center thing, that is---their website, and their twin cousin MF are reporting 7-30 as the due date and my experience is that they usually lie over-optimistically to keep you interested. Very unexpected that they would have it in stock. Cool. I'll have to look to see if they have it locally. |

Jon, I special ordered mine towards the end of June. I saw the same thing on their website and was very surprised when they called. I am not sure these will be stocked in the retail stores. You may have to special order it as I did. |
