I was looking at a, Transfex Pro 212's, Sheffield Equipped, 130 watts with didital fx processor. Would that be a fair to good steel amp or what. Thanks.

I happen to agree with Bobby on this. The Transfex Pro 212 is specifically designed for voice reproduction and I don't believe that it would sound good for steel guitar. I know that there are a couple of Peavey customers who might disagree, but that is my opinion.

Hey Tony, I have a Transfex pro like you are talking about and I've had it since 99 or 2000 can't remember exactly. I love it for guitar and I'm pretty sure that's what peavey intended them to be used for.

When I 1st got it I was playing with Murph down at Gabe's and he asked me if he could play thru it one night so I set it up for him and fixed a couple of presets up for him all he ever wanted was reverb, delay and chorus once in a while. I was his unofficial sound man hee hee before we worked together he had never used any digital effects and I got him hooked up with a couple of them but I digress :-)

The night he played thru it I played thru my stereo rig that I had been using for a long time and I actually liked it better than the peavey. Murph played thru it and loved it. I don't know if you knew Murph or not but man he could really play just as loud as he could good if ya know what I mean.

He was knocked out with it especially the stereo seperation in one amp. He ended up playing thru it for a couple of weeks and I had to take it away from him:-)I had just spent over a grand for it and another couple of hunderd or more for the foot pedal that was made for it. So I was itching to get it back and play with it because as we all know it's nice to play stereo but who wants to lug 2 amps around every where you go.

So anyway after Murph got use to playing stereo he couldn't stand to play with one amp so he bought a 2nd amp off of Redd I think but don't quote me. He then needed something to make them stereo and he loved the digital effects like the reverb and chorus and delay so I had an ART SGE multi effects that I brought down and set it up for him to use and he was as happy as ever.

Well next he decided to buy an effects because again I needed mine back for my studio and we found him a quadraverb and I helped him set it up as well.

Well back to the peavey after a couple of weeks he told me that he liked his setup and so did everyone else but he liked my peavey better he said he liked the tone and the reverb better and most everyone will agree that the effects in the transtubefex are killer and that's what is in the amp.

I think you live right around me somewhere I live in Madison and someone told me that you and me and a couple of others were neighbors. I've got a studio that I built in my back yard and your welcome to come over sometime and play thru my amp and see if you like it. I was going to sell it but a buddy of mine has conned me into doing some sub work around town and I'll probably use it due to being stereo and only one amp. I do have a cart to wheel it around though I think it weighs around 65 to 75 pounds so I don't want to carry it around without a dolly :-)

Give me a call sometime and stop by and see how you like it. I think they are pretty reasonable now. You know Murph ate up that back neck and loved those low notes and it never broke up on him but it shouldn't it has two 135 watt amps with those sheffield speakers it's a very loud amp when needed. I never turn it up over 3 I think Murph ran it on 5 or 6Smile! If you want my number just email me here bigbob@comcast.net

Sorry Bob, I didn't mean voice reproduction. I meant instrument reproduction.

Did you mean to say..."It was voiced for guitar, and not steel"?
