Does the newer Podxt have the 15" speaker simulator. or would I have to download the 15" from line 6? Is the 15" speaker what most steel players are using with the Podxt?
And would I have to download the Brad Paisly setting(for my Tele) from Line 6 to?

Hi Terry, the 15" speaker is part of the software download (v2.2 and later I think) but I dare say if you buy a POD that's only recently come from the factory it will come pre installed.
The 15" cab is modeled on a 1962 Supro Thunderbolt with a Jenson speaker - I don't know how this would compare to a Black Widow or whatever. It's OK sounding but not worth getting too excited about. Go for what sounds best to your ears, not necessarily what looks best on paper. If you are playing your PODxt through a real combo amp it is not going to turn a 12" speaker into a 15. The cab and mic models are really for recording directly from the POD.
Personally I keep coming back to the 'Blackface Lux' amp/cab model for both steel and Tele but I'm always changing my mind. For steel I tend to bypass the amp/cab/mic models if I'm going through my N112 and just use the effects.
You would download the Brad Paisley setting from customtone.com where users can upload their own tone patches. There are various alterntive 'brad tones' up there, just do a search. You need a computer with a USB port. |

A Supro Thunderbolt (with 15" Jensen speaker) is a great, gnarly, distorted amp for lead guitar or harp - I have owned two. It is nothing like a clean steel amp with a 15" Black Widow. I imagine the reason for its inclusion is the fact that Jimmy Page used one a lot, especially in the early days. I saw a picture of Hendrix with one also. It really was intended as a bass amp, but ixnay that thought - it was more like a Tweed Deluxe on steroids. I wish I still had one, but not for clean steel. |

Ok thanks guys. I thought maybe line 6 heard about all the steel players here on the forum that was wanting a 15" speaker model for the xt, and so they provided. Silly me.

The latest firware adds a couple more speakers, but still no BW speaker. Actually, nothing Peavey in the POD XT emulation.
I sent them a suggestion for adding a Peavey 1501 BW, but nothing yet. Maybe if more Steeler's bombard them with requests they will add one (but since there is no Peavey maybe there is a legal reason they don't have any). |
