How does one convert from the old style National plug to the modern one and where can the materials be found? |

If I'm not mistaken, your local Radio Shack store sells a screw-on adapter for this old style plug.

Those screw-on mini-mic plugs are nearly impossible to find nowadays. Even guitar repair shops have a tough time getting them. To convert your National you need to buy a 1/4" Input Jack. Any music store will have them in stock. If you don't want to do the conversion yourself, the store should be able to direct you to a guitar repair shop.

Thanks Max. That's it!
Goto the Switchcraft page and type
332A into the SEARCH box.

Rather than using an adapter such as pictured above, I chose to have my National New Yorker's Switchcraft plug converted to a standard guitar jack. I had Gary Brawer do the conversion for around $50 or so because the fit was very tight and I didn't want to screw anything up.

Horizon makes a cable that has that connector on one end, and a male 1/4 inch plug on the other. |
