Paul,

What brand/model/size speakers are your Marrs speaker cabs loaded with? Are they closed back or open? I am about to have some cabinets built by Marrs, and I would like to get close to the specs you use.

By the way, I appreciate your input on this forum.

Thanks,
Cameron Parsons

Maybe you could ask Marrs what they built for Paul.

There is a chance Paul is busy and may not catch this post right off...

Just a suggestion?

I'm not sure, but last I heard, they were closed back cab's with 4 small 2" ports on the front baffle. The speakers were Peavey 1203's. I think.

I called Marrs, and he said he thought they were 12" Black Widows. I just need to confirm that they are the 1203's and what ohm rating. I just acquired a Mosvalve power amp, and I want speakers that would be a good match for it.

Cameron, I just sent you an email on the speaker cabs.

By the way, we get a lot of compliments on the Texas project. It is being played a lot. You did a great job on steel. Thanks again!

I have a MV500 power amp and am using Peavey 1203-8 (8 ohm) speakers. There is a statement on the back of my amp that says use 8 ohms for best performance. I've had this combination for 8 years.

Many use 4 ohm speakers and the response curve of the 4 and 8 ohm models is almost identical.

I've never ran the volume on the power amp over about half way and it will blow you away with the volume.

The Genz Benz tech told me the 8 ohms was the preferred load for the MV500 and to never go below 4 ohms load.
