I found some AB, Type J, audio pots. However, they are 1 Meg instead of 500 kilohms. I put one in my Goodrich pedal and it works just fine. One Meg likely provides a slower taper because of loading but I like that. Yes, they are GENUINE Allen Bradley. The shaft is only 3/8"L x 1/4"D but it still went into the Goodrich. Since I'm now 75, that will probably see me out.
Anyone wants one, I'll ship @ $25 each including shipping as long as the supply lasts. These are NOS genuine Allen Bradley but they are NOT the same as the original 500K. Email me: donroberto(at)verizon.net[This message was edited by Robert Leaman on 28 April 2006 at 02:35 PM.]
Firstly, audio tapers can be determined by plotting resistance readings, terminal #1 to terminal #2, with respect to shaft rotational position. Facing the rear of the pot, terminal #1 is the right-hand terminal, terminal #2 is connected directly to the pot wiper (middle terminal), and terminal #3 is the left-hand terminal. This is per IEEE convention. A linear pot shows 50% reading when shaft rotational position is 50%. Secondly, taper is denoted by an A stamped on the pot case. These pots are NOT linear. If anyone wants a picture of the pot case rear, send me an email (See above).[This message was edited by Robert Leaman on 28 April 2006 at 05:13 PM.]
