After shopping around for a new amp and getting a number of good opinions, I finally picked up a Nashville 1000 and ditched using my Fender Stage 160 for steel (although it remains on active duty for the violin). This was tough as I’ve been a Fender guy for more years than I care to admit and I was really hoping I wouldn’t regret going with the 1000 over the Steel King. I’ve had the 1000 for a week and half or so and, playing in a small rehearsal room, I really wasn’t hearing a great deal of difference between it and the Fender. However, I played at an outside venue last night and all I can say is WOW – the difference in sound is phenomenal. The 1000 sounded every bit as good as I was hoping it would – actually, better. Clarity, power, tone, and every other metric you can think of – all fantastic. The only downside was that I needed two burros and a coffee break to haul the thing to and from the stage.
My thanks to Mike and the rest of the Peavy gang. I know that everyone touts the 112 as the amp to beat, but as far as I’m concerned, the 1000 has become the gold standard.

| Michael,don't feed the amp it will make it heavey and lazy-one another note I played a gig last night and the steel player was using a NV1000 and the volume kept going up and down more down than up-the amp had no juice-anybody have this problem with a NV1000?If so, I will pass the info to him. |

Michael, these amps LOVE to be driven..
No disrespect to the smaller N112's..
but the 1000 and the class with them( N400's, Session 400's. Session 500's etc..) maintain clarity and headroom along with immense volume beyond the Moon...

Can't explain your colleague's "up and down - no juice" problem on the power ... that certainly wasn't my experience. I had power to spare all across the board.

The 1000 is light (57lbs) compared to some amps. e.g. a Fender Twin Reverb with JBL's (I know I carried one around for 10 years) or a Peavey Session 500 steel amp - almost as heavy as the Fender Twin.
The Nashville 400 is 64lbs as is the Peavey Session 400's.
As far as "Tony's" Nashville 112's (  ), I had a report from a friend that was in Dallas for the steel show and they went to a club that the steel player (I think he said Jr Knight) had a pair of Nashville 112's he said the band (and steel) was so loud he had to holler at the person sitting next to him at the table. |

Jack, I hear ya, but Loud is subjective..
compared to what ?
Someone wants to talk while the music is playing ?
We did a set at Saluda last year, a guy who was basically sitting directly in front of me and my N400..first row..maybe 3 feet from the stage..complained to me that I played too loud..
was he right ? I dunno...
But it's a pretty fair sized room..If I turned down for that one guy, then the people in rows 3 thru 25 would probably asked me to turn it up !
At gigs we've had people tell us we are to loud..and others tell us we are not loud enough..at the same place..
Anyway...I hope nobody is somehow thinking that the N112's are just as LOUD as the N1000's...with the N1000 crankin'...
Although I would certainly agree that two amps..is always better than 1 !
This conversation about the 112's vs the N1000 is non ending...
both are great amps..one has a different purpose than the other...
I kinda like the idea of two 112's...
maybe, we'll see...
