I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly but I have four 15" Gausse spkrs. in 2-Altec cabs. Giant sized cabs. 2 front loaded with a big scoop underneath. Been in storage a long time. PA equiptment. Anyone ever use this kind of spkr. for steel?

Fender used Gauss/Cetec speakers in the Vibrosonic amps for a while. However Gauss made a variety of 15" speakers for different applications and I would doubt that the model you have in your double 15 cabs is similar to the instrument version. If you could get a model number off the back of the speaker you could always do a "Google" on it.

John,
The speakers and speaker cab that you describe sound like the bottom part of the old Voice of the Theatre speakers from Altec ...The top part being a multi cell metal horn that would send the high/mds and highs out ....The Guass speakers are not the standard speaker for this cabinet , but I would guess that they are bass speakers ...A lot of these speakers were used years ago as they could handle a BUNCH of power without blowing ...I had a pair of 2-15 cabs with the scoops, and 2 big multi cell horns for a HUGE rack of synths that I played thru years ago ....Ah... to be young and dumb again !!........Hope this helps.....Jim

Thanks Larry and James. Here"s the deal.
The Gauss spkrs. are 4580s. 8 0hm. Made my Cetec. Very well built and still in very good condition. I'm playing an Emmons LeGrande III, through a Mesa Mark IV, with a Mesa brand Black Shadow 12".
I recently tried one of my single JBL cabs., loaded with a 15" E145, 8 ohm spkr. with the Boogie, and found it to be fuller. The single 15" cab. has a small horn built in to the cab. with it's own vol. control. ( second set-up PA ) I really like the Mesa amp. So opinions on either of the two 15" spkrs, for steel is the new question. By the way, Thank you to all of you folks who post here on B0Bs' SGF. I have learned alot in the past 3 years.
