I switch between lap steel and pedal steel when I do shows. The pedal steel pickup is way hotter, so I end up having to a lot of volume dialing on the amp when I swap instruments. Does a matchbox have a volume control I can preset? What's the difference between the 4A, 6A and 7A?
Thanks.

I'm not positive but I believe the 4A does not have a volume control, just a tone control, or it might be the other way around. The 6A and the 7A are identical with both a volume and tone control, except the 6A does not have a switch whereby you can turn off the battery. You have to put out the output jack to turn off the battery. I use a 6A and installed my own little toggle switch to accomplish the same.

Are you using the pedal volume with your lap steel? Most amps have 2 inputs, and if you're not using the VP with your lap steel, then you can just use another cord. |

Thanks for the replies. Donny, yes, I do use a volume pedal for my lap steel, and my amp has two inputs, however, there's a loss of tone when both inputs are used, so I'd rather not go that route. Is that what you were suggesting?
