Hey guys and gals, I have a little decision to make and I need some input.
I know that the 112 whether using one or two amps get great revues. However I read of players using a variety of effect units which I understand for reverb, delay, rotory, distortion, etc. My question I guess is why do you use units to bypass the EQ on the 112, and different power units to power the 112. It sometimes seem the 112 is just being used as a speaker cabinet(s). If this is the case why not just use a rack system? I am a little confused. Can some one help me out here. I am thinking along the lines of a rack system OR possibly one maybe two 112's.
I have no complaints with my Evans+Profex11 just curious about and willing to try something else.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
BTW, I have been reading the various threads on the 112 and they are very helpful, but my origianl question reamins.
Thanks,

Larry, in my case, I do not use the effects to bypass the EQs in the NV112.
The common connections would be to connect the FX units between the guitar and amp or connect the FX units in the FX loop (send/return) of the NV112.
In either case, the EQs of the amp are still being used.

I see alot of players using rack effects with the Peavey PX300 which is just a cabinet with an amp in it. I have seen some players build a cabinet and put a speaker & an amp in it so they can use their rack stuff or pedals. Its really just a matter of preference. Some people already have and amp and dont want to spend on the above so they just buy effects and bypass the preamp in their amp & some of the same people want to beable to do both. Variety... the spice of life. I'm just stuck on the amp itself. Haven't used effect one yet?

Here's my chain: Zum to Hilton to DD3 to front of NV112. Simple, and great tone!

I connect my POD XT between the volume pedal and the amp input. I don't bypass the amp's EQ.

Some people use units, such as the Profex II which was designed to be the Preamp/EQ/Eeffects processor and designed to drive a power amp directly and by pass their amp's EQ and connect it directly to the power amp input.

How different people use the amp (or any amp) is just a testimony to the flexibility of the amp.

I go through my Profex ll into the front of the 112 - I'm not bypassing the amp's EQ either. I suppose that the EQ in whatever patch I'm using is working in tandem with the settings on the amp. I have bass at around 9, mid and shift at 12 o'clock, top and presence at around 6, with no amp reverb.

I've never tried using an effects-loop on any amp I've owned. I don't know if I'm missing anything, but I've always stopped fiddling with it once I'm happy with my tone.

Larry, here's how I run mine. The 1st 112 I run th DD6 in and out of the pre-eq pacth. And the second amp I run dry. Problably there's a better way, but at the moment this does what I want. Definitly go with 2 112s. J.C.

I use my Pod Pro XT both into the front of the amp or into the Power Amp in, depending on the room and which sounds better that particular time. It varies.

I got a chance to borrow a 112 and it sounded just great. then I used my Profex both in the Fx loop and then the input. I prefer the input. It sounds GREAT at least in my garage. Haven't had a chance to gig with it yet though.
Now Peavey might have something new coming out so I might have another variable entered into the equation.
Still listening to replies. Thanks!!
