A friend of mine bought a prewar dobro a week ago. It is a wood body spanish neck, 12 frets to the body. It has a poinsettia cover plate and what appears to be a smaller than standard cone. there are F holes, the tail piece looks to be a two piece affair that is pinned and brazed together. there is no sound well and no serial number. It has a slotted head stock with Economy Kluson keys and black buttons. it is a blond with a maple body and neck. the body is bound with black binding and the back of the peghead is painted black. It's rough, and needs help but we keep getting conflicting stories on this thing. thanks,

If you can, a picture would help. |

It's almost impossible to determine which model you have based on the description so far. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Clay Harrell has a web page about Dobros that might help you identify it better.
If you really want it professionally appraised, I normally recommend contacting Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN, Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island, NY, or Elderly Instruments in Lansing, MI.

...or you could ask me Ive been playing, buying, selling & trading Dobros for 35 years....
Even contributed many instruments, info, etc. to Gruhn's books.
Your guitar sounds like a pre-war model 19 Regal brand resophonic guitar. The f-holes are a dead give away there.....also the poinsettia c/plate.If theres no label, it could also have been sold under several other brand names(all still manufactured by Regal in the 30's.) Names such as,Bronson, Belltone, RadioTone, etc were all made by Regal & distrubutd by these other companies.
Hope this helps,
