I am having trouble with my amp cutting out briefly like it has a loose connection somewhere. I called Preston Electronics who has worked on the amp before, but there number is disconnected. Is there an authorized repair shop in Kansas City that anyone can point me to? Thanks in advance.

Did you check with Fender for authorized repair centers?

Quigley's Music, on Troost in KCMO, is (or was) an authorized Fender dealer and should be able to have it taken care of.

Big Dudes has a repair shop in the basement. But I don't think they work on Steel Amps much at all.

Your best bet may be shipping it out of town.

Tom,

In the Kansas City area, I'd definitely go with Don Warner in Raytown.

He has been servicing instrument electronics for years on an individual basis as well as handling area music stores repair accounts.

Most local steelguitarists seek Don when in need of electronic service or repair.
On an aside he is also an outstanding guitarist and pianist and steelguitar fan.

On the longshot that you have anything he wouldn't be able to service or repair, I'm confident he would be 'upfront' with you about it.

I couldn't remember Don Warner's name or I would have added that.

Sorry to hear Quigley's is gone. But, except for visits back to KC, I haven't lived there since 96. I bought most of my music stuff from Quigley's or Cousin Jed's in Northtown (NKC) and I knew Jed's had closed. Is Big Dude's still around?

I guess you've double & triple checked everything else (other than the amp), right?
The amp isn't that old and if there was an intermittent problem, it would have shown up as soon as you got it.
