Not too long ago ithought someone posted that you can tell the date of manufacture of a Twin by looking at the transformer so today while i had the speaker out of mine, i checked the transformer and it says 2/25/69, so guess mine must be a 1969 model.
it doesn't have the Master volume. Also found out that 1501 Shallow Basket sounds great in it. It's becoming my very favorite amp. TJH |

Mine is a '71 non-mastervolume. I had it "blackfaced", and put the amp in a head cabinet, and run two K-130 JBL's as extension speakers. I just love this amp. Sometimes I use my Altec 418B's, sometimes I use my EV15L's, depends on what mood I'm in. I use Rick Johnson extension cabs. Those old twins have a fantastic tube sound. Works for me! |

The master-volume control was added in '72. The 135 watt (ultra-linear) version came out about 5 years later, and most steelers prefer the added headroom of this model. Personally, I like the 180-watt Super Twin Reverb! The addition of 2 more 6L6's, and the graphic equalizer in this model makes this an awesome amp with truly awesome tonal capabilities, far more than any Twin Reverb.
Mighty heavy, though! ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/eek.gif) |
