Reference the other thread on this subject.

I've found the fix for the 2.14 firmware update, thanx to Jay and working with the 2.14 updates.

The "Studio Direct" is the default EQ setting for the 2.01 firmware version but with the new 2.14 it is no longer the default, plus they have added an EQ setting that wasn't in the older firmware versions. The default with 2.14 is "Combo Front" and EQ, Low at 0 (no bass), Focus at 650 Hz and highs at 0.

Setting the What You are connecting to" to Studio Direct will give you what the 2.01 firmware had for overall EQ response. As noted by Jay, this is accessed from the "Tune/System" button and the "Select" knob.

You can modify the overall EQ by using the new Combo Front and setting the low, focus and high for whatever you want. However, it's just as easy to use the Studio Direct and then no adjustments are required.

The sad part is, the Line 6 Tech support didn't have a clue either.

Does the update from 2.x to 2.14 erase presets?

It didn't on mine, on one occasion that I did an update, but save the "bundle" using the Line 6 Monkey or the Line 6 Edit before you do the update, just in case.

The one time I tried the update (I did the update several times during troubleshooting) it didn't wipe them out. Other times, I checked the option to wipe out all my presets and then just reloaded them after it was updated.

I've got a question for you Pod gurus . . . friend bought a Pod Pro XT (after he heard mine) at Guitar Ctr in CMH . . . has 1.05 software. I'd advised him Not to upgrade yet, that I'd send him my Line 6 Monkey and Edit and my settings. BUT, yesterday, at a jam, I attempted to tie his Pod to mine with a MIDI cable and send over four of my settings to his. With the software he has, only setting "16" was a "user" setup. But I could NOT get the Pods to "talk" to each other. Normal that the software versions need be identical??

Yes, there are parameter differences between firmware versions. If you tried to send something the other one didn't know about or couldn't support it could cause it not to respond.

Response from Line 6 support, after I updated my open problem with the fix.

Cool... glad that worked out... that was a headscratcher"

Sorry to say, so much for Line 6 support.

Reviving an old thread here after doing a forum search on the Pod XT (which I got last week and now have up and running).

The last word on this was to use Studio Direct for Jack’s settings to work correctly. If I’m running the Pod through a Nashville 112, won’t Studio Direct be too much for the amp? If that is correct, then what should I set the Low, Focus and High to for the Combo Front setting?

Hope this makes sense.

You need to select "studio". There is nothing else to set when you have this selected. The other parameters are for the other setting.

I only use mine as an "effects processor" and don't use the EQ, etc. I connect mine between my volume pedal and the normal input on my Nashville 112.

Jack – thanks. I thought the Studio Direct setting would blow out the amp, but obviously it didn’t. Seems a bit brighter with the Studio Direct setting, but gotta say that after going back and forth between Studio and Combo Front, I prefer the Combo Front on most of my settings.

I can’t find any documentation on how best to set the Low, Focus and High settings on the Combo Front, or even what the Focus setting is supposed to do (my sound engineering ignorance showing here I suppose…). Any words of wisdom for me on that?

Thanks for your help.

I only tried the Combo setting since that is what it defaults to with the new firmware upgrade and was very disappointed. I lost all the "body" and it was nothing but highs.

The Studio Direct puts it back to the internal EQ that was the default prior to this last firmware update.

Finding out that there were settings other than the original Studio Direct, was the reason I initially started this post. With the update (and Line 6 Tech Support didn't know either) they changed the default to the Combo and the sound was bad, bad, bad!

Everyone that I know of is using Studio Direct with a Pedal Steel.

Jack -

Well, I guess if everyone is using Studio Direct then I better learn to love it too ;-}

I’ll give it another listen, do a couple of tweaks and see if it hits me any better. Enjoying playing with Pod thing a lot.

Jerry, my setup is a Franklin D-10 with Lawrence 710 pickups, to a Hilton Volume Pedal to the POD XT to a Nashville 112.

I don't set the Nashville 112 any different, with or without the POD XT.
