Your description of the symptom sounds as if it might be a broken pot or just needs a shot of Peavey Funk Out(#00456600) or contact our factory parts department to order. The phone number is 1-877-732-8391 and select the "Parts" option.

A friend of mine had the same problem. Ted Crabtree was adjusting the EQ on his Nashville 400 when it popped and caused major hearing loss. I'm not sure what the problem was, but now he's nearly deaf in that ear. I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else. Be careful when adjusting your Nashville 4.

My early 80's Nashville 400 would do that every now and then. I finally pulled out the chassis and sprayed some cleaner in all of the pots and never had the problem again. I never sustained any hearing loss, but I did soil my underpants a few times.

I have heard sounds come from amplifiers that caused hearing loss. The guy who was plugged into the amp, called it music.
Larry, you can get contact cleaner at elex parts stores.
Lee, You can get Northern tissue at Walmart.
