I am a newly retired guy with about 6 months experience on the steel. After many years of standard electric guitar I fell in love with the Steel sound. I am an avid reader of the forum and now I am seeking some advice. I am playing an MSA S10 Classic (MICA)thru a Linkon Volume pedal into my Vegas 400. I have the George L 5 sound pickup. (soon to be replaced with a True Tone). However, I just can't get a decent tone with the amp. I have struggled with the settings and the Paramid shift, etc but the tone just isn't there. The highs are too shrill, the mids and lows are muddy. However, I get better sound just going direct into my Behringer board. Any suggestions for amp settings that would give the classic Nashville sound? Many thanks.

Richard, as a good starting point, I suggest that you try the settings listed in the original Vegas 400 operating guide here; http://www.peavey.com/search.cfm?c=3&lang=&term=vegas
If you still have difficulty in dialing in your preferred tone, I invite you to call me toll free here at the factory and I will be glad to lend a hand(or two hands and both feet!).
I would appreciate assistance from Forumites who own this model as well as they too can provide their experience with the amp.
My phone number is 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180.

Thank you Mike for the manual download. I have used my Vegas since '85 & it has been a real work horse. I now run stereo with a Nashville 400 & the first channel of the Vegas. The second channel is set up for my guitar with synthesizer. It handles all of the synth instruments quite well. I have used it for fiddle (when we've had one set in) and very nice for lead guitar (especially 'thumb-style'). LOW 9-10 PARAMID 800 & 300 HIGH & PRESENCE 0 --this covers my 12 string Carter just fine. I do not have the mod kit. The position of your amp will make a difference, too, not to mention the size of the room, etc. Enjoy.
Thanks again to Mike Brown for the on-going help he has provided to all of us.
