Nice find. Pawn shops here only do jewelry. Even the pawn shops in the U.S., last time I went looking, they all seemed to want $300 for a used Crate.

Darvin...a disease? Good lord, man, that's an epidemic. Yet, I'm curiously jealous to see all of those Peavey logos shining back at me (I have a Peavey t-shirt on as I type this).

Oh, and Tony -- good job!!!! I always look to find those old Peaveys in pawns, too.

Side note: Anyone ever play steel out of an old 2 x 12" Duece? I've been itching to get one of those.

Al

Congrats, Tony...that's a steal.

If you ever want to sell it, I think Darvin is looking for that particular year.

Darvin, I think it's a PANDEMIC...because it has obviously spread!

Being on the road ( sales slug) I visit Pawn shops basically across two States ( NC and SC) and I have my regular stops.

Almost all of them have music gear and tools as well as the typical Guns and Jewelry.

Some of the shop owners will deal, some will not. If I see something I like I always make some sort of offer. Some of the owners price items so high it's not even worth a discussion. Kinda funny, when I revisit many of those shops over a few month period those items are still there.

Here in town a guy is sittin on a very clean Session 500, but it has a problem, it's running on half power. When I tested it, I brought my Steel into the store and set up and played. You shoulda seen the looks on some of the folks in the store !

He has $499 on it. He thinks it's a keyboard amp. I printed out a bunch of information for him from the Internet so he could see what it is he has and some pricing information from EBAY sales. . I offered him $150 in the condition it is in.., he said he would come down to $450..uhh..I don't think so.

The problem here is he didn't test it correctly when he got it in and he probably paid around $350 to $400 for it. I always stop in, almost a year now, and re-offer the $150...ya never know..

A month or two back I bought another Peavey Classic 50/2x12 with the Black Tolex, Condition 10..I got it for $325.. I gave it to Matt who plays in our band so he now has two..(he paid) Had that been a 4x10 amp it would have stayed here with me.

Yesterdays deal on the Session 400 was just to good to pass on, even though I offered a tad less, they held firm but the price was very fair..for a very clean amp..so..here it is.

kinda fun way to break up the day...

Tony, that was a great deal. I always check out the Pawn Shops when I have time, but I buy very little in them anymore, like you, I find that usually their prices are way too high.

I also have an old Session 400 chassis only that I'm building a cabinet for. I just got it back from Brad Sarno a few weeks ago. He did a cap job on it and added a "power amp in" jack to it. It sounds great.

Darvin and Dave, nice collections. I'm not going to list mine - my ex or girlfriend might be snooping. Have either of you ever hooked up all those amps at once? I'd love to hear that, just once.

BTW, you guys would love seeing the Stones in concert. Ron and Keith each had walls of Fender Tweed Twins and Bassmans, maybe a dozen each, mostly originals I think.

Tony - Do all of the knobs still have the black dot in the center? Those usually started falling off after a couple of years.

Lee, no, 1 is falling out and 1 is missing..

but I'm already on the case.
by the end of the day..
new black dots !

other than a few scratchy pots, the two black dots are the only issue with the amp..

David, I have 200 Amp electrical service at my house, does that mean I can use 200 "amps" at once? LOL... Seriously, any one of these amps is plenty loud for me by its self. Its kind of ironic, but I don't even use an amp in the Praise and Worship band I play in. I use a Digitech 2112 preamp/effects unit directly into the board, and use in-ear monitors.

I like to use them six receptacle power strips. Plug the 15 amp plug into the wall, and each of the receptacles is good for 15 amps (says so, molded right into the plastic), lets you turn 15 amps in into 90 amps out. (not really...)

If I took a picture of the Heathkit Amplifiers, Allied Electronics amplifiers, Stromberg-Carlson amplifier, Fender Bassman (1967), 3 Peaveys, a 600 watt Pioneer that likes to blow speakers (FET's have a problem...), BFI 1240 mixer w/ 2 300 watt modules, and various other goodies, by the time I got it all out of the attic and into a photograph my wife would chain the attic door so I couldn't put them back.

DVA, that Fender triple neck shore is purty. When I see one of them it reminds me of my early teens when I used to stare at the Fender catalog and hope that someday.............
