Hey Mike (Brown). What do you think it would take for Peavey to re-issue the old 1201-4 Black Widow basket? I've found these in old Artist and other amps. It's got the metal dustcap and sounds very much like a JBL, only a bit smoother. It's one of the very best 12" steel speakers I've heard. I've messed with the 1203-4 but it seems to be a bit TOO heavy duty with the thick paper. And it doesn't have that metal dustcap. You've got the 1501 for 15" steel, but why not the 1201 for 12" steel app's? I bet you'd find a lot of interest.
Thanks,
Brad

Brad, it basically boils down to the old "supply and demand" theory. That's all. |

Yes, but we will have to recruit a few thousand consumers or the price will also be in the thousands! |

I'd like to try 2 also and compare them to the 1203-8 pair I've been using for 3 years now.
Hey Brad ... when's my preamp gonna be ready? |

Since we do not manufacture such a BW at this time, I highly recommend the Blue Marvel 4 ohm speaker that we offer in the Nashville 112 amplifier. From the response that I've gotten from the field, this speaker is a very good sounding speaker. It can be purchased from our Parts Department here at Peavey or from your local authorized Peavey dealer. Our number is toll free at 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180. The part number for this Blue Marvel speaker is 70777234.

Thanks Mike. That Blue Marvel is a great sounding speaker. That's been proven overwhelminly lately. My thoughts on the 1201 had to do with the high power handling and its similarity to a JBL in tone. What is that Blue Marvel rated at?
Thanks,
Brad |

I tried a 1203-4 in my Nash 112 and couldn't tell enough difference to offset the extra weight, so I took it back out. The Blue Marvel is a good sounding speaker. I just sold a Peavey Envoy amp with a Blue Marvel in it (10" I think) and it sounded really good too, for a small lightweight amp.

Darvin, just to be clear, I'm referring to the 1201, not the 1203. Very different cones. Wanna buy 1000 of them?

I realize that Brad, I was just complimenting the sound of the Blue Marvel. I have a 1201-4 in an old LA-400 amp and it sounds great. The Blue Marvel like in the Nashville 112 would probably be underpowered for most applications.
Hmmm, 1000 speakers would probably last me about 2000 years.LOL
