peavey has a new amp out called the valve king. it's all tube, 50 watts with a 12" speaker. has anybody tried one? they're $349 shipped from musician's friend, and that seems like a great deal.

Yes, that would probably be great...for lead guitar or lap steel.

But not for pedal steel.

As soon as I obtain a Valve King, I'll see how well it works for steel and will report to the Forum.

Donny, I beg to differ on that. Maybe not for CLEAN and/or COUNTRY sounding pedal steel playing, but an overdriven guitar amp sounds great for DISTORTED ROCK or BLUES pedal steel playing.
