I see that the bridged mode uses both (+) of each channel, how does this work with phasing, in stereo you would have the same phase meaning no signal when both are connected, does the briged mode switch invert one channel so you get a higher output voltage swing?

If you run a stereo power amp in "bridged mode" you typically turn it in to a mono amp with approximately twice the power. Not for the faint of heart though...

It's been a semester since I took an audio engineering class, but if I'm not mistaken, stuff that's in phase adds to itself, and stuff that's (90 degrees) out of phase cancells entirely, if it's the same waveform. So, the + sides of a stereo amp hoooked together should theoretically give you twice the signal strength (read amplitude) of just one side on its own.

Somebody check my work

Bridge mode typically is invoked with a switch that uses 1 of the 2 input circuits and inverts the input signal to one of the 2 power amps while feeding a non-inverted signal to the other power amp. The reason both "+" terminals are used is because the load (speaker) is "suspended" between the 2 outputs and not connected to ground. Each output stage of the amplifier operates 180 o out of phase with the other. Together, they operate like a standard single push-pull (AB) output stage.

I have a Stewart Power Amp and was wanting to use my dual Evans Pre Amp - 1 channel for guitar and 1 for steel - I was under the assumption that if I run out of the 2 Pre Amp outputs and into the 2 poweramp inputs in the "Mono Bridged mode that my second channel would be bypassed? - I wanted to go into 1 speaker in the mono mode
