I attended a jam last Sunday where the lead player was using a small all tube Fender Princeton Amp with 1-10" speaker. I liked the way it sounded for a small amp so I called around and found one for $315.00 including tax at a pawn shop. It's a silverface and works great, no reverb, but a nice sounding built in tremolo. Is this a good price for the amp? I hope so 'cause I really like the way it sounds....JH in Va.

The Silverface Fender Princeton is Tom Petty's recording amp. He swears by them.
Their demand seems to be constantly on the rise. Vintage dealers want a lot more than $300 for these amps.
It's nice to get a great deal every now and then....congrats. |

| Unless it's real beat up, it sounds like a good price. The 2005 VG Price Guide lists SF Princeton, no reverb between $375 and $475 in excellent condition, depending on period. They're great sounding alone, and I love them for low-volume gigs with a Pod in front. |

Those Princetons are gold. They will only grow in value and they are the ultimate in tone at a low volume. The models with reverb are getting near $1000 these days. The non-reverb ones are total scores at any price under $500 in my opinion. Some people like to remove the old baffle (and store it safely) and put in a 12" baffle instead. I play gigs with my wife on acoustic guitar. My stock (but recapped) '68 princeton is plenty for both guitar and steel at our volumes. They record incredibly well and for some reason they sound very full and fat and will give that classic Fender tone.
