Anybody put there have any experience with this unit? I can't make head or tail out of the skimpy instructions provided with the unit.

IT is a fine unit, especially for geetars and basses. Easy to see and it is designed to tune silently. A blessing in most guitar bands! Give one to all the guitar and bass players, so they will be silent when they tune.
IT is OK for steel if you like Peterson's offsets for C6 and E9. IF not,you can program your own offsets.
It is not as flexible as the VSAM. The VSAM will allow you to use any root note with the built in steel offsets. You can tune A6, B6, D9, or anything you want, by just selecting the root you want. It will use the C6 and E9 offsets and transpose them to your root.

hope this helps

The SS does not have preprogramed E9 and C6 offsets.

It has two slots where you can program your own.

Steve, I use it all the time. Once you set it. You are done. And as you play an S10 there is plenty of room to program it. Email me and I will be happy to help.
