I'm looking to get a spring reverb. I've heard good things about Furmans. Anyone have any opinions?
Thanks.. Henry
P.S. Honest to God... I do know how to spell "spring" [This message was edited by Henry Nagle on 21 July 2005 at 09:51 PM.] |

Hi Henry,
I think that Demeter makes a good one. There's also a unit called something like the "Little Lalani". There's also Fender outboard reverb units. If you go to www.harmonycentral.com you can read reviews of these effects.

It's all about which spring is in it. To my ear, the 2-spring medium decay units popular for guitar amps are too choppy and decay too abruptly, and that is going to affect your sound much more than which unit it is istalled in.
If you have an internal amp reverb, just replace it's spring with a 3-spring long decay unit from Accutronics. If you don't, find a way to get such a spring in just about anything with some EQ to it. |

Peavey used to make a unit called the Valverb which is a nice sounding 1 rack space unit. They can be had for $2-300. Tube Works also used to make a single rack space reverb unit that sounded good. Not sure of the model# or current value. |

I use the Tube Works spring reverb. It has a lot of nice features. It is a two channel unit or you can combine the two channels into one for a real "lush" sound.

The Tube Works "Real Tube" RT-921 goes for about $500 on E-bay.
The manual is available here: http://www.genzbenz.com/img/manuals/tw/RT-921UserManual.pdf
Would you need two inputs to combine channels for the "summed mono out” ? Or, is it possible to cascade the channels with a single input ?
Tube Works products were really generous with the number of input and output jacks!

You can combine the channels with just a push of a button, one input will do it. If I'm not mistaken, there are 4 springs per channel and when you combine them, you have an eight spring reverb. Also, I believe you can pick up a Tube Works spring reverb over e-bay for considerably less than $500. The first one I bought new and I think that I picked up another one for less than $250.00
