I saw a guy last night playing through a Peavey Triumph 60 tube amp. It had a single 12" speaker in it, I couldnt get around to see if it was a Widow or Scorpion or ?
This is the first time I ever saw one of these amps,,,
Anyone know anything about these amps? Im just curious

Made in the 80s, seems to have been intended more as a hard rock amp, but I liked mine as a clean Tele amp. With the right speaker, I don't see why it couldn't be used much like a Pro Reverb for steel in small clubs. It was quite versatile, and had good clean and crunch channels. Mine was a head, so I don't know what they put in the combos, speaker-wise, but I'd guess not a BW. |

I had the Triumph 120 version a few years ago, it had a Scorpion 12" speaker. I didn't play steel through it but it may have worked OK for steel, it had lots of power. It had a noisy cooling fan that bugged me, so I sold it. It went to forumite Ken Fox BTW, I don't know if he kept it or re-sold it. It was pretty heavy too. |

Richard, the Triumph amplifier series was targeted for a distorted type of style, however it also includes a clean channel.
Here's a link to the operating guide from our website; http://www.peavey.com/search.cfm?c=3&lang=&term=triumph+
